Empyrean Runes - Da

The Rune Da
Da: The second among the Prime Runes, is the Rune of Formation, Structure and Order. The Prima Materia of the Empyrean's world is the prime crystallization of energy. This is the arch-matter that begets all matter. The substance that lies at the root of all of creation. Thus, while Aes is the Flame Eternal - the purest form of the essence of Aether that ultimately flows in all of creation, Da is the archetypal form of creation. The perfect specimen of structure and form is the potent Adamant, whose quality is both that of great endurance - unbreakable and untamed, but also the substance that cuts through all other matter. Likewise Da can be called upon to fortify defensive and protective qualities, but also to resolve an attack in its most basic form - the blade of a sword. Thus Da is a basic rune in many melee-based attack spells, but also in spells of powerful warding and defense. When used by itself, Da is great for enhancing physical items, endowing them with unnatural qualities. The Invoker can also use the rune to enhance their personal Fortitude.

Spells:

  • Da   Adamant MantleYou focus on one or more chosen items, coating it in a thin layer of a denser substance, which does not disrupt the item's elasticity but enhances its structure. When the spell expires, the layer dissolves into fine glimmering dust. When used on clothing or armor, the item's armor value is increased by 1, while when it is used on an edged or piercing weapon, the item's damage is improved by 1. The item itself gains twice the Durability it had before, and its toughness increases by 1. When the spell expires, any lost durability is first subtracted from the spell's enhancement, only the remaining durability affects the item.
    • Duration: [Soulforce] + [Spell Power] hours.
    • Effect: Enhance Item.
    • Critical Result: Double Effectiveness (+1 armor/damage/toughness)
    • Items Affected: 1 per [Spell Power].
    • Range: Touch
  • Da   Great Fortitude: You enhance the power of your body to endure pain and suffering, by making yourself tougher and hardier. You gain 1 extra dice in all Fortitude rolls. In addition you gain a bonus temporary Health level for as long as the spell is active. In addition the Target Number of your Fortitude rolls is reduced by 1 to a minimum of 6.
    • Duration: [Soulforce] + [Spell Power] hours.
    • Effect: Enhance Self.
    • Critical Result: Double Effectiveness (+1 Fortitude / Health, -1 Target Number)
  • DaAes   Crystal AttunementYou attune yourself  to a specific piece of crystal. Crystals have great properties which can further enhance and diversify empyrean magic. Certain spells require an attuned crystal in order to work. Some spells even require specific types of crystals to be attuned to the caster. The attunement process requires roughly 1 hour of meditation with the crystal. It can be more elaborate and prolonged depending on the intended use and desired results, but a simple attunement usually needs less than 1 hour of meditation. Once the attunement is complete, the crystal can be used by the invoker in various ways.
    • Casting Time: 1 Hour
    • Duration: Permanent (until overriden or cancelled).
    • Effect: Crystal Attunement.
  • AesDa   Empyrean EdgeYou can channel the aetheric flame through your specially prepared focus, creating a mighty melee weapon that springs directly from your aetheric body. You choose the form of your melee weapon, but it is something that you choose once and cannot change on a whim later. The same applies to the hue and overall appearance of your weapon. It is made of glowing energy, and will usually, but not always tend to have a fiery effect, like flames leaping from the hilt, dissolving into the environment.
    • Requires: Hilt Focus with embedded attuned crystal.
    • Duration: [Scene].
    • Effect: Conjure Soul Blade with these characteristics:
      • Base Damage = [Soulforce] + [Spell Power] (Might does not apply in this attack)
