Empyrean Rune - Yrd

Yrd
Yrd is the power of the collective flow that chains events into the apparent sequence of action and reaction. A stream of deeds that necessitate from a primordial origin unto the destiny that awaits everything in the cosmos. Indeed, Yrd, is the concept of cosmic Fate. It is also the concept of flow, of water, Karma - as some call it- and even, to some extent, time. All of these things are hid in Yrd, and more. For there is understanding there, inherent, innate, the gift of insight, as some call it and thus the ability to know, which supersedes the ability to see or feel, or which includes both of these. In Yrd, knowing and seeing and feeling are not at odds, but are as one. Thus, Yrd is the power of divination, revealer of the Past, Present and Future.
  • YrdThe Mirror Pool: You reach deep into the forces of Fate, questioning the unknowable and gaining valuable insight into what was, what is, or what might be. You gaze into a mirror-like surface, gleaning visions from the past, the present or the future that is yet in the making in its depths.
    • Requires: Untainted mirror-like surface of water, glass or metal.
    • Cast Time: Several minutes
    • Storytelling / Narrative tool. The mirror pool may show nothing, or trivial information, in particular when used out of context. When used in coordination with an ongoing story, however, it can become a great tool for enhancing the story and providing the players with additional options.
    • The Mirror Pool can reveal (apparently randomly) images from the past, grant scrying of distant location, or offer visions from the potential future.
    • The Mirror Pool works in very mysterious means, and does not provide convenient information or visions, but often these visions can be riddled with allegory, illusions and misdirections.
    • [Soulforce] + [Spell Power] determine the effectiveness of the vision.
  • YrdInner Compass: You gain a powerful intuitive tell that helps you avoid any deception or manipulation. You gain dice equal to [Soulforce] + [Spell Power] in any relevant rolls.
    • Duration: [Soulforce] + [Spell Power] Hours.
    • Effect:
      • Increase your dice pool in all rolls to detect lies, deceit or manipulation by [Soulforce] + [Spell Power]
      • Able to roll dice equal to [Soulforce] + [Spell Power] in order to see through illusion or negate enchantments such as an invisibility spell.
      • You gain 2 bonus dice to all Perception-related tests, as your inner compass enhances your senses.
      • You gain 1 bonus dice to all rolls, as a result of your enhanced intuition.
  • AesYrdAetheric Font: You are able to store aetheric energy in order to tap onto it later, when you might need it. You store a total of energy equal to your [Soulforce] + [Spell Power]. The process exhausts any [Soulforce] you currently possess, and you must spend additional destiny, or reroll your Spirit in order to regain Soulforce, after resting for at least 1 hour.  The Aetheric Font is a very important spell
    • Duration: [Soulforce] + [Spell Power] Hours, until the energy is exhausted.
    • Effect: Each time you cast a spell you can reach into your aetheric font to do one of the following:
      • Retrieve 1 or more automatic [Spell Power] for your current spell. This comes as a bonus to the [Spell Power] that results from your spellcasting roll. The maximum amount of [Spell Power] you can pull is equal to your [Soulforce].
      • Increase your [Soulforce] by 1 for the casting of your current spell. The cost in Mana to do this is equal to 5 - [Soulforce] (minimum 1).
  • YrdShaEye of Time: You sidestep the stream of time, gaining sight of future events as if they happen now. The kind of time that you can travel into the future is determined by your [Soulforce], but the actual amount, is determined by your [Spell Power].
    • Duration: Instant
    • Effect: Gain insight and warnings by glimpsing into the future. Based on your Soulforce you travel a number of units into the future, where you watch events unfolding as per your current set of choices. The number of said units is measured by your [Spell Power].
      • Soulforce 1-2: Rounds
      • Soulforce 3-4: Minutes
      • Soulforce 5-6: Hours
      • Soulforce 7-8: Days
      • Soulforce 9-10: Months
      • Soulforce > 10: Years
  • DaYrd Aetheric Capacitor: You can use attuned crystals to store aetheric energy inside them. Crystals have a capacity depending on their quality and the strength of the attunement. Most common crystals have a capacity between 1 and 5 energy points, and can sustain the stored energy for days (around a week). Better crystals have higher energy capacity, and the storage lasts even longer. The invoker can use one or more attuned crystals to store their entire Aetheric Font of energy. This allows the invoker to draw energy directly from the crystals as if they were tapping their Aetheric Font. This makes it possible to store much more energy in the form of crystals.
    • Requires: 1 or more Attuned Crystal. The Aetheric Font spell.
    • Duration: Varies. A typical crystal will hold the energy stored in it for [Soulforce]  + [Spell Power] days. However other crystals can do the same for months, or even years.
    • Effect: Store energy up to the crystal's capacity and up to the current Aetheric Font.
  • DaAesYrdPower Crystal: You enhance a previously attuned and aetherically charged crystal to brim with empowering aetheric energy. The Power Crystal increases your Soulforce by 1 or more points depending on the crystal's quality and the power of the invoker. The rite of empowerment is a cumbersome ritual that causes fatigue to the invoker, and exhausts all of their current Soulforce. They must hence rest for at least an hour to replenish their aetheric power.
    • Requires: 1 Attuned Crystal which has been filled with aetheric energy through the Aetheric Capacitor spell.
    • Duration: Varies with the crystal's quality. Usually [Soulforce] + [Spell Power] days.
    • Effect: Empower the crystal's Soulforce by 50% of the invoker's soulforce, depending also on crystal quality:
      • Poor quality: 1 Soulforce
      • Moderate quality: 2 Soulforce
      • Good quality: 3 Soulforce
      • Excellent quality: 4 Soulforce
      • Exceptional quality: 5 Soulforce
      • Astounding quality: 6+ Soulforce
