Aspect - Fortitude

Fortitude is the third among the Aspects. It is the domain of the tenacious and stoic, those who survive and persevere against adversity.

The Elemental power of the Fortitude Aspect is Earth.

Characters who prioritize Fortitude gravitate towards a fixed - sometimes rigid- value system and often like to simplify the world, painting it in very stark colors, or even just dividing it between black and white.

Fortitude characters are hardy and strong-willed, and have a propensity for entrenchment and defense. Some like to use their tenacity in a heroic way, but others merely become cruel and cynical tyrants, who seek to conform everything to their rigid views.

Fortitude without Force becomes immovable and inwardly complacent, whilst Fortitude without Adeptness becomes rigid and ultimately breaks under pressure.

Fortitude is also about control, thus Fortitude characters are disciplined and can exercise a great degree of control over themselves. Nonetheless, there is such a thing as too much control. Excess in this domain can turn the character into an obsessed control-freak.

Fortitude contains a certain connection with nature, bringing the character somehow close to the creatures and plants of the earth, or maybe only the metals and minerals. If they are a warrior, they are good with armors and shields.

Finally Fortitude is about Faith. Sometimes the Faith is well-placed (when the guidance coming from Spirit is good) and leads to exaltation. Other times, the Faith is merely a compensation for the character's inadequacies, and becomes nothing but an unhealthy obsession.

In general, Fortitude-centered characters may have trouble letting go of things, which means they do not forgive easily, and they certainly never forget.

The steadiness and seeming invulnerability of Fortitude characters makes them often a safe harbor where others like to moor their ships, and feel at ease with, but this often opens them up to be manipulated or deceived.
