Guardian of the Empyrean Gates

Standing vigilant before the Empyrean Gates, their guardian is sworn with the task of protecting the inviolate mysteries concealed behind them.

There are innummerable celestials that dwell in Yrion - the High Aether, and among them the Aethons are all the purest emanations of the Eternal Flame, the very Force that battles for Yrion's very existence.

Yrion itself is heavily guarded by the gates of the High Aether, where a mighty bastion filled with celestial warriors is positioned.

But even within the vast realm of Yrion, there are rumored to be at least 8 gates of great mystery. The most mysterious of these gates are the Empyrean Gates. Though none knows what truly lies behind them, it is said that the gates lead to the Empyrean itself - a place of vast divine flame and celestial rapture, surpassing the radiance of the many realms of Yrion by a thousanfold. This is the rumored location of the Empyrean Throne, where the mysterious Archon is said to reside.

Before each of the gates within Yrion, a mighty Aethon stands guard. Though the Aethons are many, these mighty guardians are only a handful. Their exact number remains uncertain, and their names and identity are a mystery to all.

Beyond the Empyrean Guardian - who some speculate is an avatar of the Archon himself, there are said to be at least another 7 guardians, though some believe there are more.

The Guardian of Light, the guardian of Tartaros, the guardian of Stars, the guardian of Eternity, the guardian of Immortality, the guardian of Nobility, and the guardian of Ascension are the known guardians.

Some believe there is a ninth guardian, positioned before the Pillar of Eternity, guarding some other place, of even greater mystery than the Empyrean Gates, but these are probably only rumors - none who dwell on Yrion have managed to get close enough to the Pillar of Eternity without being consumed by its rapacious, fiery light.

Of course, there are even wilder rumors. One of them is that there is at least one more guardian, positioned before the Empyrean Throne - but none of the Celestials have ever been there.

And some stories go beyond even that, speaking of even more mysterious guardians and gates. But besides some allegorical contemplation, there are few celestials that truly entertain such wild ideas.
